Expansion, custom larger machining paying off at Triangle Tool
admin Already a versatile moldmaker specializing in larger and/or more complex tools such as stack molds, gas-assist, and multishot, Triangle Tool Corp. (Milwaukee, WI) has fully moved into the 18,000-ft2 expansion housing its new bridge-style 5-axis Mecof machining center. Specialty machining of large pieces is adding substantially to the moldmaking business.
This newly added 5-axis Mecof machining center is prominent in Triangle Tool’s recently opened expansion, but there is space for additional CNC systems. |
Company sales manager Vic Baez says, “Triangle Tool had perfected high-speed machining through our mold building business. We bought this machining center knowing that our customers wanted faster machining with greater accuracy for their large pieces, and the Mecof does just that.”
The Italian-made Mecof system offers table travel distance of over 31 ft, and is one of more than 15 4- and 5-axis systems now operating at Triangle Tool. Baez says Triangle was amazed at the response from companies all over North America once the company had open time for custom machining. Business is coming from the defense, aerospace, and wind-energy sectors, among others, and additional CNC machining centers will soon enter the new expansion.
Triangle Tool’s total floor space, including the new addition, is now about 173,000 ft2, and the company has added nine employees since the addition opened. Between its Milwaukee headquarters and its A-1 Tool Corp. facility in Melrose Park, IL, the company now employs over 160 persons.
